How to start cannabis delivery in New Mexico

A plain-language walkthrough for New Mexico dispensaries adding local delivery: licensing, drivers, zones, and records.

1. Confirm your license covers delivery

Check with the New Mexico Cannabis Control Division (CCD) that your retailer license allows delivery, or that you have the right courier authorization. Keep the license number and expiry date handy.

2. Set your delivery area

Decide which neighborhoods you'll serve, what you'll charge, the minimum order, and the daily cutoff time. Start small — one or two zones — and grow once runs are smooth.

3. Onboard drivers

Drivers must be 21+, carry valid ID, have a clean driving record and insurance, and a vehicle with a locked, out-of-sight cargo area. Train them on checking ID and refusing a sale.

4. Keep the right records

For every run, keep a manifest, GPS log, ID check result, and proof of delivery. Return undelivered product the same day. Keep records for at least three years.

5. Pick software that does the paperwork

GreenRoute handles dispatch, tracking, ID checks, and records for $0.50 per completed delivery — free to join, no monthly fee.
